We have wrapped up our learning for the 1st quarter! Hopefully we all got a good taste of expectations and routines and are ready for a fresh start of the new 9 weeks.
Here is what we did this week and what is upcoming...
Students have started Chapter 9: The Coordinate Plane. We will be extending the unit to also focus on area and perimeter of shapes, as it is a good transition for forming the shapes in the coordinate plane.
Assignments that have been assigned:
Page 48 #1-17 all
Page 58 #1-14 all
Will be assigned this week:
Area and Perimeter of squares, rectangles, rhombuses, and parallelograms.
Area and Perimeter of triangles and trapezoids.
Objectives for the unit:
-students will be able to identify ordered pairs in all 4 quadrants.
-students will be able to plot ordered pairs in all 4 quadrants.
-students will be able to draw and identify polygons on a coordinate plane.
-students will be able to find lengths of vertical and horizontal line segments.
-students will be able to form polygons based on set areas and perimeters in a coordinate plane.
-students will be able to find the area and perimeter of squares, rectangles, parallelograms, rhombuses, triangles, and trapezoids.
