We had an amazing first week with getting to know each other through collecting some data! We were able to learn about our favorite core subjects and how many siblings we all have. We are now able to relate this data to finding the mean, median, mode, and range! This week we are learning about box and whisker plots, which is a 6th and 7th grade standard. They are my favorite since they remind me of kitties! :)
As you know, we are working on assignments in class in pairs to help build our understanding together. No assigned homework just yet, unless you didn't finish the in class assignment!
6th Grade Learning Goal: Students will be able to understand statistics.
Objectives-
-Find the mean, median, mode, and range of a set of data.
-Understand and create a dot plot.
-Understand and create a box and whisker plot.
7th Grade Learning Goal: Students will be able to understand statistics.
Objectives-
-Understand how outliers effect the mean, median, mode, and range of a set of data.
-Understand and create a box and whisker plot.
-Compare box and whisker plots.
